We just got through the Halloween frenzy, so it’s time to focus on one of the next big holidays just around the corner — and it’s the biggest one of all in the U.S.: Christmas!
Everyone has their preference for when they want to start decking out their halls with yuletide dècor, but it’s better to start shopping for these items sooner than later. Even if you don’t break out any Christmas gear until Thanksgiving weekend, it’s better to have it on hand; otherwise you risk overpaying on last-minute buys or having retailers run out of inventory.
If you’re looking for inexpensive items to enrich your home with the Christmas spirit, get thee to Dollar Tree, where, unless otherwise noted, you’ll pay just $1.25 for festive yuletide essentials.
Artificial Poinsettias
Real poinsettias may be preferable to artificial varieties, but these crimson flowers famously associated with Christmas aren’t cheap and don’t last long (plus, they’re mildly toxic for dogs and cats). Why not get some floral garden artificial poinsettias from Dollar Tree? Of course, Amazon sells versions of these too, but not for that cheap.
Assorted Ball or Sphere Ornaments
What’s a Christmas celebration without a Christmas tree, and what’s a Christmas tree without shiny ornaments? Check out the assorted ball ornaments, 30-count at Dollar Tree. Note that you have to buy a minimum of one case.
Cases are priced at $5 each and contain 30 ornaments. If you don’t want to spend that much, you can also get the Christmas House shatterproof ornaments, 6-piece pack, which are sphere-shaped and cost $3 per pack. Obviously this is more than $1.25, but it’s a lot less than what you’re likely to find at, say, Target.
Plushie Elves
Move over Elf on the Shelf, and come on in Christmas House plush elves. These cuddly buddies are perfect as either holiday decorations or as gifts for young children.
Snowy Pine Tree-Themed Plate
What’s particularly standout about the winter green plate at Dollar Tree, is that you can get away with using it even after the holidays pass because the design features, simply, a green, snow-capped pine tree against a white background.
One buyer left the following zealous review, “These dinner dishes fit perfectly with my Christmas dishes. They also match the glasses I got from Dollar Tree. I can’t wait to use them this year!”
Glitter Snowflake Kitchen Towel
Another great Dollar Tree buy that you can use all winter long are the Christmas House glittery snowflake kitchen towels. A similar pair goes for $14.99 on Amazon, which works out to over $7 per towel [4].
Christmas Cupcake Liners
If you’re baking cupcakes for Christmas, you’ll appreciate these Christmas House holiday cupcake liners at Dollar Tree. These dessert sleeves feature designs of candy canes, Christmas trees and snowflakes and come in two different sizes.
Christmas-Themed Spatulas
Now, what about for when you’re making those Christmas cupcakes? These Christmas-themed silicone spatula set at Dollar Tree will come in handy. Or, you can head over to Amazon and pay a little over $24 for a 12-pack (that works out to over $2 per spatula; and do you really need 12 silicone spatulas)?
Holiday-Themed Food Storage Container
Here’s a Dollar Tree item that anyone who meal preps can wholly appreciate: holiday-themed food storage container. Each priced at just $1.25, these containers shouldn’t be overlooked. Since there’s no rule that says you can only use these during the holidays (and since nobody but those poking in your fridge or pantry will see them), you can use these food storage containers for meal prep all year long.
Editor’s note: Pricing and availability may vary depending on location.
